Introducing Baby to Solid Food

When babies are transitioning from formula or breast milk toward more solid food, it is essential to introduce new food stuffs gradually.

The last thing any parent wants to do is give their child something that they are allergic to. It is recommended to try each item singularly over a four to five day period.

This time span will make it possible for a parent or caregiver to determine if baby is sensitive to the food, while eliminating the guess work. After the introductory period has been concluded for one item, a new food can be introduced. Be sure to note any food that baby has exhibited a reaction to.

Some of the more common foods to start baby on include fruits, squashes, yogurt, and stew. The items can be mashed or pureed while baby is not yet ready to chew. Each of these items is loaded with nutritional value.
